HELP BUILD

Local Tokens alternative currency

Created by Robyn Overstreet.

I'm a Developer in Brooklyn, NY. I'm currently freelancing. I earned a M.A. from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program.

Project Description

A local alternative currency system managed and supported by a web app. Users use virtual tokens to exchange for real-life goods and services. One token is approximately equal to one hour of time. The system operates on the principle that no one's time is more valuable than anyone else's.

Trading locally keeps resources in the community, and acts as an alternative to cash and credit cards, particularly in communities where those resources are scarce. An alternative currency creates wealth based on something other than money, and helps equalize economic inequality.

UX/UI and Design. Open to web engineering help too.

Project Goals

  • Publish open-source code on github

  • Make a live website and get members to beta-test

Geert Bossuyt

Hello Robyn,

Sounds great!

At Squads.com we specialise in starting up startups; i.e. helping the entrepreneur to build his vision into a first good version so the product can be tested and evaluated with real users. From thereon we continue building the next versions of the site if wanted. Off course we can make sure everything is hosted and working afterwards.

We have all the skills you're looking for and we're know for our high quality code, which is nice for the open source ambition.

So, if you are still searching for your technology partner and want to enjoy the benefits of an experienced team, please let me know at bossuytgeert@gmail.com
